Lunch provided by Asociación Ganadera Local de Juarez and Santa Teresa  Livestock Auction

1:15 pm    Introduction – Tito Medina, manager/auctioneer

1:30 pm    Breeding strategies in Mexico – Dr. Moises Montaño-Bermúde, inifap

2 pm   Tour of the Santa Teresa Border Crossing facility – Daniel Manzanarez, manager STBC

3 pm     All buses depart for Las Cruces

The afternoon will begin at the Santa Teresa Livestock Auction (STLA).  Located in close proximity to the crossing facility, this new facility allows an additional avenue for Mexico cattle producers to market their cattle into the United States. They run an average 3000 head a week through the auction during the peak season.

The afternoon will conclude with a guided tour of the Santa Teresa border crossing itself.  First opened in 1991 and spanning the border approximately one mile east of the international port of entries, the Santa Teresa/Jeronimo livestock facilities are the most modern on the US/Mexico border with the capacity to process 5,000 livestock per day. Depending on the call for that day, there is a good likelihood to see cattle enter the US from Mexico.

This tour will provide attendees a good perspective of what is happening in the Mexico beef industry.
