Benchmark Angus Ranch, Cudlobe Farms, 44 Farms named 2023 Seedstock Producer of Year Finalists
The Beef Improvement Federation has announced the 2023 Seedstock Producer of the Year Finalists. BIF members nominated six ranches for this year’s competition. Selected as finalists are Benchmark Angus Ranch, Lethbridge, Alberta, Canada; Cudlobe Farms, Stavely, Alberta, Canada; and 44 Farms, Cameron, Texas.
Seedstock producers recognized as nominees were Hamilton Farms, Rocky View County, Alberta, Canada; Lewis Farms, Edmonton, Alberta, Canada; and Lilybrook Herefords Inc., Claresholm, Alberta, Canada.
Since 1972 BIF has annually recognized outstanding seedstock producers. Each year BIF member organization can nominate producers for this honor. A committee then evaluates the nominees based on their selection objectives, marketing, long and short-term goals, record system and implementation, carcass merit/end product, contributions to community and industry, breeding system, forage resource, innovations/improvements, and the role of BIF in influencing their management decisions. Nominees for the BIF seedstock producers of the year award represent the best of the best seedstock producers. Nominees are included in the BIF Seedstock Honor Roll of Excellence available for viewing at beefimprovement.org in the award winners section and is a ‘who’s who’ listing of the elite performance seedstock breeders overtime. The BIF Seedstock Producer of the Year award program is sponsored by Drovers.
