MANHATTAN, Kan. – Registration is open for a virtual option of the 2022 Beef Improvement Federation (BIF) Research Symposium and Convention. This year’s event will be hosted June 1-3 in Las Cruces, New Mexico. If guests are unable to attend the event in person, they can register for an online attendance option. Online registration is available at BIFSymposium.com. The cost for online registration is $100.

“We are excited to announce our partnership with IGS to offer online registration to this year’s BIF Symposium for our international friends as well as domestic attendees,” says Bob Weaber, BIF executive director. “When we transitioned to an online-only conference in 2020 due to COVID we realized the global interest of our BIF program. We want to continue and expand on that relationship by offering this service in conjunction with the in-person event in 2022.”
The online registration will allow attendees to “attend” both morning sessions and the awards programs through the zoom webinar platform. Afternoon technical sessions will not be available live. They will be recorded and posted to the BIF Symposium website after the event.
The BIF Symposium features two days of educational programming. The first general session — “Sustainability: Rhetoric vs. Reality”— will feature presentations by Ruaraidh Petre, Global Roundtable for Sustainable Beef executive director; John Crowley, AbacusBio; and Jason Sawyer, King Ranch Institute for Ranch Management associate professor & research scientist. During the second general session the theme will be “Global Perspectives on Adaptation and Genetic Prediction.” Speakers Friday will include Tony Clayton, Clayton Agri-Marketing; Billy Estrada, Tres Marias Ranch, Mexico and Phil George, Miratorg Agribusiness Holding production director, beef & lamb operations, Moscow, Russia.

Each year the BIF symposium draws a large group of leading seedstock and commercial beef producers, academics and allied industry partners. The attendance list is a “who’s who” of the beef industry, offering great networking opportunities and conversations about the issues of the day. Program topics focus on how the beef industry can enhance value through genetic improvement across a range of attributes that affect the value chain.

The Beef Improvement Federation (BIF) is an organization dedicated to coordinating all segments of the beef industry — from researchers and producers to retailers — in an effort to improve the efficiency, profitability and sustainability of beef production.
