The Beef Improvement Federation (BIF) presented Josh White, Highlands Ranch, Colorado, a BIF Continuing Service Award June 2 during the group’s annual research symposium in Las Cruces, New Mexico.
Continuing Service Award winners have made major contributions to the BIF organization. This includes serving on the board of directors, speaking at BIF symposiums, working on BIF guidelines and other behind-the-scenes activities. As BIF is a volunteer organization, it is this contribution of time and passion for the beef cattle industry that moves BIF forward.
White currently serves as the National Cattlemen’s Beef Association (NCBA) senior executive director of producer education & sustainability. Additionally, he serves as the NCBA Representative on the BIF Board of Directors.
During his career, he has championed cattlemen’s college, stockmanship & stewardship, and cattlemen’s webinar series while also promoting and advancing the Beef Quality Assurance (BQA) program. Josh helps lead NCBA policy division sustainability efforts, including co-chairing the US Roundtable for Sustainable Beef outreach working group.
“Josh has consistently offered up new approaches and solutions to questions faced by the BIF board,” says Shane Bedwell, BIF board member and American Hereford Association chief operating officer. “He was instrumental in making conventions run smoothly from his leadership of online registration logistics to chairing the awards committee to providing outstanding speaker and topic ideas on the program committee.”
More than 300 beef producers, academia and industry representatives attended the organization’s 54th Annual Research Symposium and Convention in Las Cruces, New Mexico. BIF’s mission is to help improve the industry by promoting greater acceptance of beef cattle performance evaluation.
